This lab will illustrate how to use the Database Kubernetes Operator to run your database inside of Kubernetes, using a Single Instance deployment first on a Block Volume, and then on an NFS volume to illustrate failover between Kubernetes nodes.

Workshop Info

  • Lab 1: Set up an Oracle Kubernetes Engine instance on OCI
  • Lab 2: Install the Oracle Database Kubernetes Operator
  • Lab 3: Deploy a Single Instance Database using a dynamically allocated Block Volume
  • Lab 4: Deploy a Single Instance Database using a static NFS filesystem
  • Lab 5: Failover to another node and redeploying the DB
  • Familiarity with Database as well as Kubernetes (kubectl) is desirable, but not required
  • Some understanding of NFS is helpful
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
