About This Workshop
This lab will walk you through the steps to deploy and scale open source Agones dedicated game servers on OCI OKE. The lab provides the terraform to create the OKE cluster, networking and node pools as well as the necessary helm charts to deploy the agones system and fleet. After everything is deployed you will scale the fleet up and watch as the node pool autoscales, then you will scale the fleet down and watch as the node pool auto scales down.

  • Deploy the OCI infrastructure with Terraform
  • Install the OKE autoscaling addon
  • Create the Agones system and pods
  • Test a simple game server and client
  • Create an Agones fleet
  • Scale the Agones fleet and OKE nodes
  • Teardown
  • Awareness of Agones and its capabilities
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes is helpful
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
