About This Workshop
This comprehensive lab is designed to provide hands-on experience with migrating on-premises databases to Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Participants will develop foundational knowledge of ADB architecture, its core capabilities, and the best practices for secure and efficient migrations.

The lab begins by demonstrating how to establish secure and reliable connections to ADB, ensuring users are equipped to interact with the cloud database environment. Next, users will perform readiness checks on their existing environments, verifying all prerequisites—such as network connectivity, database and schema requirements, and necessary tools—are in place for a smooth migration.

The lab walks participants through Oracle’s Cloud Migration Analyzer, a utility that scans your source database and offers tailored recommendations on the optimal migration strategy. Users will also measure and evaluate network latency between their systems and ADB to verify adherence to Oracle’s best practices for a successful migration.

For actual data movement, the lab provides step-by-step guidance on exporting source data using Oracle Data Pump and importing it into ADB, using NFS. In addition, participants will explore migrating data using the DB Link method for direct transfers, giving users practical experience with multiple migration paths.

After performing data migration tasks, the lab concludes with exercises that teach users how to monitor ADB’s performance, utilize troubleshooting tools, and analyze workload metrics to ensure the migrated environment operates efficiently.

Throughout the lab, users gain valuable skills in planning, executing, and validating ADB migrations, preparing them for real-world cloud adoption scenarios.
