About This Workshop
During this workshop, you'll build a complete application that can answer detailed questions about movies by combining the Sakila film database with MySQL AI-powered embedding and language generation. We'll start by building a standalone chatbot using Claude 4.5 Sonnet as our AI assistant, providing it with predefined prompts to generate the chatbot code based on our specifications. You'll get hands-on experience setting up RAG with MySQL AI capabilities, and we'll leverage preexisting code to quickly deploy and test the finished application.

  • Setup OCI Components
    • Lab 1: Create a Virtual Cloud Network
    • Lab 2: Create a Compute instance
  • Setup Database, AI, and Sakila
    • Lab 3: Install MySQL Enterprise Edition 9.4.1 with MySQL AI
    • Lab 4: Install Sakila and configure vector embeddings with sys.ML_EMBED_ROW()
  • Setup and Chatbot
    • Lab 5: Build and test Apache/PHP
    • Lab 6: Build Pure RAG chatbot interface
  • Build and Validate Sakila Pure RAG pipeline
    • Lab 7: Build, deploy, and test the Pure RAG Application

 

  • Sample - Familiarity with MySQL Database is desirable, but not required
  • Some understanding of cloud and database terms is helpful
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
