About This Workshop
This LiveLab takes you through deploying OpenKruise, a CNCF project that extends Kubernetes workload management, on Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE). OpenKruise enhances the standard Kubernetes controllers by introducing powerful capabilities such as automated sidecar injection, seamless in-place updates, and more advanced StatefulSet behaviors for improved scalability and reliability.

Throughout the workshop, you will provision an OKE cluster using a pre-built automation repository, install OpenKruise, and then explore how it can be used to simplify and optimize application lifecycle management. You will experiment with real-world scenarios that demonstrate how sidecar containers can be automatically injected into workloads, how applications can be updated in place without requiring pod recreation, and how stateful applications can benefit from safer and more flexible update strategies. Finally, you will clean up all deployed resources to avoid unnecessary costs.

By the end of this lab, you will have practical, hands-on experience running OpenKruise in a production-grade Kubernetes environment on OKE and a deeper understanding of how it can streamline and strengthen workload deployments.
