About This Workshop
In this hands-on workshop, you will deploy Rook-Ceph, a cloud-native storage orchestrator, on Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE). Rook transforms Ceph distributed storage into self-managing, self-scaling, and self-healing storage services that integrate seamlessly with Kubernetes.
You will learn how to:
- Deploy an OKE cluster with attached OCI Block Volumes using Terraform or one-click OCI Resource Manager deployment
- Install and configure the Rook operator using Helm charts
- Create three types of Ceph storage classes:
- Block Storage (RBD) for databases and stateful applications
- Shared File System (CephFS) for multi-pod access with ReadWriteMany
- Object Storage (S3-compatible) using RADOS Gateway
- Deploy real-world applications including WordPress with MySQL using persistent Ceph storage
- Monitor cluster health and storage usage with Ceph tools and dashboard
