About This Workshop
One of the projects that is ongoing inside Oracle is improving the database error messages. Sometimes it is the small things that really improve life for developers, like more informative error messages. Oracle Database 23ai has improved error messages that provide useful problem diagnosis in context and suggest actionable solutions.
Oracle Database 23ai introduces a new unified audit capability with selectivity at the column level that lets you create more narrowly targeted audit policies that reduce "noise" from unnecessary audit records.
If you want to transition to unified auditing after you have upgraded to Oracle Database 23ai, note that most of the traditional auditing features will continue to exist in Oracle Database 23ai to help you transition smoothly.
Unified auditing was introduced in Oracle Database 12c with significant enhancements to auditing functionality. Unified auditing enables you to capture audit records from many sources, and write the audit records into a single consolidated unified audit trail.
Collect custom audit information from an Oracle Database instance and use it to build customized charts and reports using Oracle Application Express (APEX). For this example, you will use an Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) running in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
This simple example collects audit information from the standard unified audit trail and two custom sources:
• DDL statements and code executed;
• Errors raised in the database instance.
