You will learn how to configure and manage Database Vault, including configuration and enablement, realm creation, and SQL command rule creation, understand its use cases, and explore best practices for securing databases against unauthorized access.

  • Protect sensitive data using a Database Vault realm
  • Safeguard service accounts by creating a trusted path between the application and database
  • Prevent accidents in production application schemas by disabling destructive commands
  • Create a break glass role to enable application data access
  • Create unified audit policies for audit realms and command rules
  • Use simulation mode to simulate database policy enforcement
  • Protect pluggable databases from container administrators with Database Vault operations control
  • Familiarity with Linux and using a command line to run commands and shell scripts is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with basic Oracle Database administration (connecting, starting, stopping, SQL commands) is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with Oracle's SYS_CONTEXT function and the ability to identify IP address, hostname, username, and other user context data is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with the separation of roles and responsibilities within an Oracle Database is helpful but not required.
